A toilet typically refers to the fixture used for urination and defecation, while a washroom is a more general term that encompasses the entire room or area where personal hygiene activities take place, including washing hands, face, and body. A washroom may contain multiple fixtures such as sinks, showers, and bathtubs, in addition to the toilet. In essence, a toilet is a specific component of a washroom, which is a more comprehensive space for personal hygiene activities. **

The term "washroom" is often used in Canada to refer to the bathroom, and this usage has carried over into some daycares. The term "washroom" emphasizes the function of the room as a place for personal hygiene, which is especially important in a daycare setting where cleanliness and hygiene are a priority. Additionally, using the term "washroom" may be seen as more child-friendly and less formal than "bathroom" or "restroom," making it more accessible and understandable for young children. **
